Pixi Skincare Review

Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser

Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser with 5% Glycolic Acid

Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser is formulated for deep pore cleansing, as it contains 5% glycolic acid to sweep away dead skin cells to reveal brighter, fresher skin.

The cleanser purifies, hydrates, and calms the skin. It also contains moisturizing nutrients to replenish the skin.

Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that comes from sugar cane and exfoliates the skin at the deepest level of all AHAs.

Glycolic acid also stimulates collagen production, which helps smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improves skin elasticity.

This glycolic cleanser is also enriched with botanicals like aloe vera. Aloe vera has anti-inflammatory, soothing, and moisturizing benefits for the skin.

Sodium hyaluronate (the salt form of hyaluronic acid) acts like a sponge to draw water to the skin.

Multiple plant oils, including safflower seed, wheat germ, hazelnut, and avocado oil, moisturize the skin and have antioxidant properties that protect the skin from oxidative stress.

Squalane provides lightweight, non-greasy moisture. Diatomaceous Earth provides a light physical exfoliation.

Please note that there is added fragrance in this glycolic cleanser.

I like using this cleanser for a deep cleanse at night before bed when I am dealing with breakouts or skin congestion. It does a great job of detoxifying my skin and cleaning out my pores.

My face feels clean and refreshed afterward without any tightness or feeling stripped.

The formula deep cleans and draws out dirt, oil, and other debris, making this ideal for acne-prone and oily skin predisposed to clogged pores.

Just be sure to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or high to protect your skin from sun damage while using this mud cleanser since glycolic acid and all AHAs will make your skin more sensitive to the sun.

TIP: The cleanser may also be used as a mud mask. Apply to your skin for 10 minutes, and then rinse.

Pixi Glow Tonic

Pixi Glow Tonic 5% Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Toner

Pixi Glow Tonic is Pixi’s iconic exfoliating glycolic acid toner.

This best-selling exfoliating toner purifies and exfoliates with 5% glycolic acid. Glycolic acid lifts away dead skin cells, allowing for a brighter, more even skin tone.

Pixi Glow Tonic also contains aloe vera, which has soothing properties. Ginseng root extract improves circulation, energizes the skin, and has antioxidant benefits, which help to prevent premature aging.

Witch hazel is an astringent that has antiseptic benefits. Horse chestnut seed extract improves circulation and has anti-inflammatory benefits.

Fructose, sucrose, and other sugars moisturize the skin improving hydration.

AHA toners are usually hit and miss for me since my skin is typically sensitive to glycolic acid products, but I experienced zero irritation or redness with this product. I apply with a cotton pad to my face and neck, avoiding my eye area.

One thing that caught my interest was the inclusion of aloe in the toner because it is so soothing and hydrating.

After using Glow Tonic, my skin felt super clean yet really moisturized. It does an excellent job of exfoliating dead skin cells and brightening my complexion.

It smoothes my skin texture, and it’s gentle enough for me to use every night.

I think 5% is the ideal concentration since higher percentages of glycolic acid may irritate and redden sensitive skin.

It’s perfect for dull and dry skin types dealing with hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and uneven skin tone.

This glycolic toner is also great for oily and acne-prone skin, as it removes pore-clogging dirt and oil. Glow Tonic exfoliating toner will be staying in my skincare routine!

Pixi Peel & Polish

Pixi Peel & Polish Resurfacing Concentrate

Pixi Peel & Polish Resurfacing Concentrate is an AHA and enzyme peel that gently resurfaces the skin.

It contains 6% lactic acid, papaya fruit extract, and sugar cane extract to improve skin texture and provide a natural glow.

Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid with a larger molecule size than glycolic acid, which typically makes it less irritating.

It improves epidermal thickness and skin firmness and smoothes wrinkles and fine lines. Lactic acid even has moisturizing benefits, so this facial peel is ideal for sensitive skin types.

Papaya fruit extract contains papain which has both exfoliating and anti-aging benefits. Sugar cane extract is a gentle exfoliant that binds water to the skin, so it’s an effective moisturizing agent.

The peel also contains ginseng root extract, an antioxidant that improves skin circulation. Witch hazel is an astringent that soothes the skin.

I am a huge fan of lactic acid products, so I couldn’t wait to try this. The exfoliating concentrate comes in the form of a peach/beige cream that turns white upon application.

It has the texture of a face scrub that physically exfoliates the skin as you apply it to your face.

You leave it on for two minutes and then rinse, so this peel is a quick and easy way to get a gentle chemical exfoliation. I experienced no irritation.

My skin felt smooth, bright, and soft after using this for two minutes. It leaves my skin soft with improved clarity and perfectly prepped for moisturizer.

This is ideal for dry, dull, or mature skin types looking to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It works wonderfully as a quick resurfacing treatment after a clay mask, too.

Pixi Vitamin-C Serum

Pixi Vitamin C Serum

Pixi Vitamin-C Serum is a vitamin C serum that brightens the skin for a glowing complexion. It contains pure vitamin C in the form of ascorbic acid.

Vitamin C is an over-the-counter anti-aging powerhouse that has three main benefits for the skin:

  • Stimulates Collagen Production: Vitamin C stimulates enzymes that signal skin cells to produce collagen, which is crucial for creating healthy-looking skin.
  • Contains Antioxidant Benefits: Vitamin C’s antioxidant properties protect against free radicals and environmental damage which can cause premature skin aging.
  • Brightens Skin Tone: Vitamin C interrupts melanin (pigment) production in the skin, which reduces uneven skin tone, discoloration and hyperpigmentation.

The serum also contains antioxidants, vitamin E, and ferulic acid. Ferulic acid is an active that has been shown to double the photoprotective abilities of vitamin C and E.

Aloe vera soothes the skin, while sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid) is a humectant that binds up to 1,000 times its own weight in water. The serum also contains Lemon, Orange, and Grapefruit extracts for a fresh citrus scent.

Vitamin C is a non-negotiable for me. I always use it in my morning skincare routine for its many anti-aging benefits.

I love that the serum contains ferulic in addition to ascorbic acid and vitamin E for a boost in antioxidant protection.

This serum has a lightweight texture and a sweet citrus fragrance. I didn’t experience any stinging or irritation as I do with some other vitamin C products.

I reached out to Pixi customer service about how much vitamin C is in the formula.

They said they don’t disclose how much vitamin C, ferulic acid, or tocopherol (vitamin E) it contains since it is a proprietary complex.

I like to use this vitamin C serum in the morning for its antioxidant protection throughout the day. It leaves my skin bright and smooth with a natural-looking glow.

This serum is a non-irritating option for sensitive skin types. It is also a great choice if you are a beginner and want to incorporate vitamin C into your skincare routine.

Pixi Rose Ceramide Cream

Pixi Rose Ceramide Cream

Pixi’s Rose Ceramide Cream is a rich moisturizer formulated with nourishing shea butter, rose flower essential oil, and ceramides to improve the skin’s elasticity.

It targets dry and dehydrated skin and improves moisture for a radiant complexion.

Ceramides are lipid molecules that help maintain the water-retention skin barrier in our skin, so they are essential for maintaining healthy skin function.

They also prevent transepidermal water loss (TEWL), which helps keep moisture in your skin while sealing out environmental irritants.

Centella asiatica extract offers anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits. Shea butter is a rich moisturizer that provides long-lasting skin hydration while preventing moisture loss.

Rose Flower essential oil has antimicrobial and antioxidant properties that protect the skin.

The creamy texture feels deeply calming and soothing on my skin. Even though it’s a thicker cream, it absorbs well and always leaves my combination skin looking plump and hydrated.

When I use it at night, I wake to replenished skin and a smooth complexion.

Pixi Rose Ceramide Cream is an excellent option for dry, aging, or mature complexions that need extra moisture to restore the appearance of elasticity and firmness.

Please note that this moisturizer contains essential oils that create an herbal spa-like fragrance.
